Designers with a Cause
12.03.21 - 12.05.21 at Space & Cafe Banksia
A joint collection exhibit "Gender Dynamics: Breaking Binarisms through Clothing," by DWAC’s (Designers with a Cause), held at Space Banksia from December 3rd to December 5th, 2021.
Ameena Imran, from Pakistan, is exhibiting her fashion collection that focuses on Female Masculinity and Punjabi Theatre (Pakistani theatre), which she will be analysing through the mahi munda (tomboy) aesthetic. Nobue Chen, from Taiwan, designed her collection based on the gaze bestowed on and radiating from the school uniforms in Japan, the Seifuku. While both have different concepts, they have come together in a space to create awareness about their women-centric issues through their collections.
To commemorate the opening on December 3rd (Fri), DWAC will host a reception party previewing the collection for media and friends. The evening will be joined by several guest speakers, including the NPO ATHENA among others.
